I think there are a couple of points here.
1) Everyone starts somewhere. If you want to improve the quality of your photos, you will. You'll read up on ways to improve, you'll experiment, and you'll find what works and what doesn't work. As you have some spare funds, you'll invest in new equipment, which will help. 2) A GWC is not only a reference to the quality of his photos, but also in an amateurish attitude towards his models. Some might consider it more of a reference to how a photographer treats models. You can defy the GWC label simply by treating your models with dignity and respect. Being honest with them about your abilities behind the camera will also go a long way towards avoiding the GWC moniker. 3) Keep at it! You'll be pleasantly surprised when you compare some of your first attempts with later work. 4) I used to worry that I was a GWC, but I don't anymore. I've had many, many models work with me repeatedly, which is not something that happens for GWCs. My work has improved, and continues to improve. My interactions with models are honest and respectful. I'm never going to shoot for Maxim or Playboy, but I'm content with the progress I've made.
TL;DR: Keep practicing and treat your models well and you'll likely dodge being called a GWC. |
In reply to Message (82281) GWC vs a photographer
By Tom Servo - Sat 08/08/20 01:27:44 GMT I've recently started taking my own wetlook pictures and I've realized I got a bit of an identity crisis...in photography we all know the guy with the camera, basically the guy who just wants to get girls naked in front of the camera. How does one know they are not their wetlook equivalent? I tried to put effort into the few sessions I did, but I am not sure how much artistic value the pictures I am taking have. Did anyone of more experienced wetlook photographers ever wondered about the same thing, is it just the passion and skill? My favorite photographers, and whose work I have been inspired by are Edwin R, Marcus (ImagesbyMR), ENNEroduction. |
