I'm inclined to agree that earlier is better, just as long as it isn't too early. I could imagine the possibility of revealing too much too soon and sending one's partner "running for the hills".

More about how than when: One approach I've tried (successfully) is, when things have progressed into the bedroom, to ask my partner what turns her on, and to clarify if need be that I'm curious if she has any special or unusual turn-ons. It opens the door for her to ask me about my turn-ons, which allows me to talk about it in a balanced conversation. I've seen a lot of anecdotes written here mostly by men whose wives/girlfriends don't participate or only do so grudgingly because she wants to make him happy. I'm convinced that by getting a two-way conversation going, it creates the possibility of combining fetishes, or at least establishing some sort of reciprocity - "I help you with your fantasy and you help me with mine".

I've also seen many anecdotes where the man "suffers in silence"... his wife of umpteen years still has no idea that he's into wetlook. I would never want to be in such a situation.

I encountered so many people through my hosiery blog who told me how their spouse doesn't share their interest and even sometimes protests by not doing to the extreme of what the other partner desires.  Where is the source here?  Could it be that the partner is upset that this sexual desire was not introduced to them upfront?

I consulted a sexual health educator on this topic.  She believes that it's best to tell the partner right away.  I think you may find this article interesting if you are not married and dating.

When to tell your partner about your fetish?  (has hosiery fetish in mind, but applies to any fetishistic fun)

Please, if you don't mind, check out her website too.  I'd like her to see some traffic, since if she doesn't, I suppose it won't make much sense to her to answer further questions.  I'd love to ask her something wetlook-related in the future.
