I guess I should've provided more details :). The only chemicals I'll need is salt, as i'm going to include the salt conversion option so it will automatically generate chlorine from the salt. So, my start-up and chemicals are basically nil. The only thing besides salt i'll need is muriatic acid and not much else. |

By Liquidladies/Waterlogged Production - weinerking@bellsouth.net Mon 26/03/07 03:48:42 GMT Website: http://www.liquidladies.org depending on where you live and how warm it gets in the spring.. Open as sonn as possible to avoid aglee growing in standing water or buy a cover for 300.00 and cover it during the winter.
Now the cost. electricity is the least of your worries.....You will have to vacuum this pool at least once a week or have an automatic vacuum do it (cost extra)....Plus you need to skim it daily geting all flies and crap out of it. Clean your skimmer basker each week and filter basket. Backwash the filter system at least onmce a week depending on usage of the pool.... Remember this for a wetlook person.. NO cut off stings of shorts jeans frayed or fuzzy sweaters. These things over a peried of weeks will clog your filter system and cost you maitenece repairs....
NOW the cost.....Expect start up cost each spring to be about $250-$300 in Chemicals along.....Shock, chloriene, algiecide, PH chemicals and more. This is just start up... you must keep the water tested and in bal;ance the whole year or you will get green water..............Pools are fun, but lots of work and if you got the money, hire a pool company to come out weekly and do it 4 you.....They are not cheap.....but reliable and lets U just play in the pool without worries....
have fun if you get one, but you have been warned by a person who has had an inground pool for 8 years.

By Russ - Mon 26/03/07 02:58:27 GMT Thinking of adding an in-ground pool to our backyard. People are telling me how bad of an investment it is, and all I can think about is how great it would be to have one.
One of the things they're saying that scares me is how much my homeowners insurance will go up. I'm going to ask my agent, of course, but is it really that bad? What other things do I need to worry about? I hear my electricity costs will go up an average of $60 (averaged out over the year). It's only going to be 30' by 12' due to utility easement limitations in my yard.
Thanks
