We got the camera from a friend and he did get 2 filters with it. The one stays on the camera all the time, but I don't know kind of filters they are. |

By soggybottom - Fri 11/08/06 05:05:28 GMT Now, that's a camera. I'm a Nikon man myself. I got the D70s which is just about the same as the D50. And, it looks like he really knows how to use it. Great shots. If you can afford it have him stick a cirlular polarizer on the lens. Learn how to use it and you could be amazed at what you can do. One thing it is good for is shooting through glass. It takes the glare off the glass and allows you to shoot through it. It also takes the surface glare off water and gives you a clear shot of what is under the surface, like, say wet jeans! Hummmm! It takes the sun glare off "wet clothing" to give you a clear look at the subject. Takes glare off leaves when you shoot a tree in sunlight. The polarizer also "pops" color. Shoot some puffy summer clouds against a blue sky and see what happens. You can get them for a reasonable price on line or a Ritz camera stores. Don't pay too much. Probably less than $40 should do it. Of course, the better the glass the better the shots. Whith that camera you will be able to do some serious work. GREAT!!! GOOD LUCK AND KEEP THEM COMING. WE LOVE THEM. Dave |

By Todd - jet@jetwetfun.com Thu 10/08/06 09:30:35 GMT Now, my son just got a Nikon D50 digital SLR camera and this is a camera!! Here are a few samples of pictures he took on this same trip:

I should borrow this camera some day :-) |
In reply to Message (24139.4.1) No f-stops on this one.
By Todd - jet@jetwetfun.com Thu 10/08/06 06:01:10 GMT I don't have the luxury of f-stops and shutter speeds. All of our pictures are done with a point and shoot (Olympus Stylus 500) so keep this in mind when viewing our pictures and trying to compare them to the pros. We do this on the side and it isn't our business so we do the best we can with our family camera. |

By soggybottom - Thu 10/08/06 05:24:17 GMT It is a great shot. I love jeans anyway and Jen wears them so well :>) That said, this is an example of the exact opposite problem that I am always bitching about. You actually have too much sun. Photographially, you should have used two or more 'more' f-stops (if you have control over f-stop). I use a polarized filter for most of my daylight shots. This would have taken the 'glare' off the white shirt so you could see it better. Again, that is just technical babble. The sot itself is really neat. So far, I have really liked almost all of your photos. Many of them have been very difficult shots done very well. Keep it up.

In reply to Message (24139) Perhaps the best picture we ever took??
By Jennifer and Todd - jet@jetwetfun.com Wed 09/08/06 19:29:34 GMT Website: http://www.jetwetfun.com/tmp/p8060802.jpg What's anyone else think? I think this is maybe the best picture ever to come out of our camera and I didn't even take it. It was taken by Jennifer's son! Maybe we have a photographer in the making?? I just love this picture!!
