hm ...
I've got quite settled now with a pure black background on my Mac, otherwise I'd be very tempted to use that third picture for my desktop picture (you know, the thing you hide behind various windows and a tonne of icon); I've saved it for in case I get bored with black :) I like the angle, and it's close enough on the dark and moody site. The focus is impressive -- very good depth of field but not too sharp (which is what my sister's new camera gives -- the entire picture is so sharp it cuts your eyeballs).
The one of you and Jennifer ... hm, depends what the aim is. To show love, it's fine. I was wondering if it would make that Wikipedia pic (yeah I know, but I'm still hoping that one day I might get a picture from one of all the people I mailed about clothed swimming clubs and some more help trying to decypher that all). But I can't see your faces and, worse, for a documentary photo it doesn't actually prove you're both fully dressed. I'd have Jennifer in a proper t-shirt (with sleeves) and we need to see that you (Todd) are fully dressed :P
Otherwise, yeah, just need the shoes in the frame. Then again, depends what you define as a best picture, you've taken a lot of nice lovey ones. Sometimes, subtlety is enough -- not wild passion, that suggests you're too damn horny to have a clue WHAT you're doing, but the calm comfort in each other and the assurance that you have every intention to be dressed. Sadly, what I believe to be your best ever, one frame is obscured in steam and the other is out of focus. It's still on my Mac's desktop, as Before and After (I tried my best to clean it up) but I will probably have to go with a better image photographically even if none are quite as good in terms of the subject.
Sadly, such is life :) |
In reply to Message (24139.4.1.1) Nikon D50
By Todd - jet@jetwetfun.com Thu 10/08/06 09:30:35 GMT Now, my son just got a Nikon D50 digital SLR camera and this is a camera!! Here are a few samples of pictures he took on this same trip:

I should borrow this camera some day :-) |
In reply to Message (24139.4.1) No f-stops on this one.
By Todd - jet@jetwetfun.com Thu 10/08/06 06:01:10 GMT I don't have the luxury of f-stops and shutter speeds. All of our pictures are done with a point and shoot (Olympus Stylus 500) so keep this in mind when viewing our pictures and trying to compare them to the pros. We do this on the side and it isn't our business so we do the best we can with our family camera. |

By soggybottom - Thu 10/08/06 05:24:17 GMT It is a great shot. I love jeans anyway and Jen wears them so well :>) That said, this is an example of the exact opposite problem that I am always bitching about. You actually have too much sun. Photographially, you should have used two or more 'more' f-stops (if you have control over f-stop). I use a polarized filter for most of my daylight shots. This would have taken the 'glare' off the white shirt so you could see it better. Again, that is just technical babble. The sot itself is really neat. So far, I have really liked almost all of your photos. Many of them have been very difficult shots done very well. Keep it up.

In reply to Message (24139) Perhaps the best picture we ever took??
By Jennifer and Todd - jet@jetwetfun.com Wed 09/08/06 19:29:34 GMT Website: http://www.jetwetfun.com/tmp/p8060802.jpg What's anyone else think? I think this is maybe the best picture ever to come out of our camera and I didn't even take it. It was taken by Jennifer's son! Maybe we have a photographer in the making?? I just love this picture!!
