In bullfights the bull has spears stuck into him and other horrible things; they are appalling. But this is a more civilised French version; the animal is a youngster, at the playful stage, and playing around with people in the same way they do with other young cattle at that age. The animal is not harmed (though humans sometimes are!).
I have regularly walked through fields of young cattle; they come galloping up to me but slow then stop when they get near; I usually turn to face them, do a jump and an arm-wave and say 'boo' (whilst thinking friendly thoughts since I believe animals can sense your attitude towards them), and they gallop away then round in a big circle to come back to me, to repeat the same process as often as I feel like it. When I decide to stop and not jump or 'boo' they come slowly closer and let me scratch their noses, jostling one another out of the way so that each can have a turn at being scratched (though I have to admit I don't usually do this until I've crossed the stile and am at the other side of the fence, since otherwise they tend to crowd right around me and I feel - probably wrongly - that there's a risk of accidental trampling). They clearly like it and its just like playing with a puppy or a kitten or indeed a human child.
I'm not saying I particularly support the game in the video, the wetlook is pretty mediocre and I think we've seen this one before, but I don't think its anything to worry about. |
