Leggings/tight pants are very common swimwear amongst Asians on British beaches - so much so that I've rarely bothered photographing them, since I could tell that these were not their street clothes (though you will see many in the background of my 'busier' pics).
But there is no doubt in my mind that, on those beaches where this is common, getting wet in street clothes is also much more common than on other beaches. Partly this is the Asians themselves - if what you would change into for swimming is very similar to street clothes, why bother changing? But there is also what I have quite often referred to as the 'copycat effect' - if it's a hot sunny day and you really fancy going into the water but haven't got a swimsuit, you're much more likely to go in anyway if there are others around already swimming in (what look like) clothes. |

By Anonymous - Sun 07/07/19 12:04:47 GMT Not in the way you may like, but the point is that they are using long pants as swimwear. so the public gets the idea that its normal, and some day you may see many others going swimming with more long pants on, such as skinny jeans. long pants are way more like clothes then shorts are imo. but hey, i tried. |
