Yes you can. It's a lot easier if you have the "Hot Date" expansion pack installed. All you have to do is copy the skin (.bmp) and mesh (.cmx and .skn) files for the outfits you want to use into the \ExpansionShared\SkinsBuy directory. To be used as swimsuits, They need to be renamed correctly. The .bmp file should be named something in the format S###FAFitlgt_xxxxx.bmp, where "S" indicates it's for use as a swimsuit, ### is any 3-digit number (including leading zeroes, so '001' is a valid example) FA indicates its for female adults (it could also be MA, FC or MC for male adults, female children or male children respectively), 'Fit' indicates the body type, which could also be 'Fat' or 'Skn' (skinny), 'lgt' indicates it's for light-skinned people (could also be 'drk' or 'med' for dark or medium skin color), the underline is mandatory and 'xxxxx' can be any identifying name you want to give it and can be more or less than five characters.

The name for the .cmx file follows the same format, except it leaves out the skin color (e.g., S250FAFit_xxxxx.cmx). The .skn filename follows the same format as the .cmx file, but adds 'xskin-' at the beginning and '-PELVIS-BODY' at the end, e.g. xskin-S250FAFit_xxxxx-PELVIS-BODY.skn. The ID number for all files (250 in the above example) must be the same for the .cmx and .skn files, and all associated .bmp files, to let the program know they are used together. Also, you can have more than one .bmp associated with a .skn/.cmx pair, the .skn/.cmx give the shape of the body and the .bmp gives a 'texture', or the coloring to put on the shape.

There's one other thing you'll need to do to get it to work properly. if you open a .cmx file with a text editor (like Notepad) you'll see that it contains the names of itself and the .skn file, without the extensions. Make sure these are the same as the new names you've give the files, changing them as necessary. Then save the new version of the .cmx. Be sure to save backup copies of the files, in case something goes wrong.

The above directions are for a PC. I don't know if they'll work for the Mac version.

Once you've done this, your sims should be able to go downtown and buy these outfits as swimsuits. Then they'll use them whenever they're in the pool or hot tub. I don't know how to get them to use anything other than the default nude skin with the fuzzy overlay in the bath or shower. The results are mildly entertaining, the graphics engine isn't sophisticated enough to show change of color or shape, shinyness, see-through, clinging or billowing, or any of the other effects we find appealing about wetlook. I think it's fun if you use your imagination a little bit. And if you're going to be playing The Sims anyway, why look at them in boring old swimsuits?

Does anyone have this program and actually taken the characters and created wetlook with it? And if so, how realistic can you make them?
