Hello Wetfan

Are you still in Central Florida. I moved from South Florida to Central Florida 3 years ago. Sadly many of the wetlook fans we used to chat to in the 1990's have since passed away (the most recent being Roger of Aquantics UK who provided much of the vintage wetlook photos and clippings on JJ's Vintage Wetlook site). There are few "old timers" left these days. The oldest was probably "Sopping" who used to do wetlook photosets during the 1960's, he was still posting here in his mid 80's but seems to have disappeared and or passed away 5 years ago. This forum has been frozen in time since it was launched in 1996 and has not had any improvements or added features in the last 23 years, so this place like a throwback to the 1990's style of forums.

The irony is, while  internet speeds and digital photography and 4K cameras have made vast improvements over what was available 25 years ago, the quality of wetlook scenes and events have taken a nose dive and fashion trends are worse today than ever (but then I too am showing my age).

I used to enjoy your regular publications of "The Wetlook Newsletter" ... we could do with an online blog version of  WLN today, because this forum is just a series of commercials and Youtube links, but lacks any stories and in-line photos, so if somebody with desktop publishing skills created a Wetlook Newsletter I am sure if would be very popular.

Funny how times change one's interests ,, i.e. when wetlook was "rare" and hard to find clips or events it was a lot of fun searching for hard to find wetlook media. I used to spend hours at the Public Libraries and travelling all over the world to find wetlook. But these days all you need is a lazyboy chair and an internet connection and you can put yourself on a "drip feed" of wetlook and be spoon fed by Youtube every day.  Subjects like Wedding Dresses and Prom Dress wetlook used to be great when they were hard to find, so we had to make those scenes ourselves, but then the "Trash the Dress" craze came to Youtube and now that subject matter is monotonous because the people who make TTD videos have a deadly boring style of making videos. They have managed to turn wetlook into a subject that is less interesting than watching paint dry.

I guess it is sign that one is getting old, when modern fashions do not interest you. All the tv gameshows are controlled my lawyers and the pc police who insist that everybody wears non sexy jumpsuits, helmets and kneepads. The thrill of wetlook used to be because it was hard to find and fun searching for or creating. Today Youtube has turned wetlook into a casino, where every time you throw the dice you are a winner, and there is not much fun left when with no effort at all you always win and never lose. Wetlook is like fishing for fish that are caught in a barrel.

The challenge for me these days, is to try and find things that are not on Youtube.

Just a quick hello to the real old-timers such as MK, AnthonyX, Graham, NCGreg and others - and to let you all know that I still visit the Forum occasionally.  It's really encouraging to see SO MUCH interest in wetlook - but also how interests have changed from back in the late 50's when I first discovered wetlook via Night & Day magazine.  True wetlook back then was a lovely young lady in a pretty pastel dress, regular undies & slip/petticoats, stockings and heels, slowly wading a short ways into a creek, pond or pool, then backing up so one could see the transformation between wet and dry - and continuing the process until she was completely soaked.  But then I'm showing my age!   Anyhow, greetings to all.

Happy
