Car (and bus, train etc) interiors are designed to cope with a fair amount of wetness for when people get in out of the pouring rain. The biggest problem is likely to be severe misting of the windows - did they even have demisters in 1974 Skodas, Messylaura?!

nothing new, been doing that in my 1974 skoda for many years, trick is no carpets and drain put in more drain holes :)
