I've met several guides that worked at Hearst Castle, they told me that it's not unheard of for tourists to impromptu (and against the rules) jump into one of the pools on a warm day. Also, the Hearst family sometimes uses the place 9it gets closed to the public). And the staff has some parties/events that lead to jumps in the pool. Was Hearst castle damaged in the earthquake? |
In reply to Message (7579) earthquake in California?!
By Dean - Mon 22/12/03 21:45:53 GMT I don't know if anyone here is from California but I heard on the news there was a 6.5 earthquake in California yesterday! They said the epicenter was located at the William Randolf Hearst mansion which reminded me of a quick story- Way back when when I was in my teens I went on a tour of California with some friends.Among the stops was a tour of the Hearst mansion. What was strange was that the tour guide seemed to take a special interest in me and kept looking at me and said"are you a swimmer?" I said "yes",then he said "I'll have to get your opinion of the pool later then" I don't know if he thought I was going to dive right in with my clothes on,or if he meant my opinon of the structure/layout of the pool. It's just one of those things that stick in your head so I thought I'd share it.My guess is that he was a "wacky wet" wammer! If I could do it over again I think I would have dived in just to watch him squirm!,(the way we do when we see shannonmodel and the like get wet with their clothes on!). If I'm not online later on -Merry Christmas everyone! |
