Hey Guys

I think some of you are under the impression that I travel around the world visiting wetlook venues all the time. While that used to be the case in the 1980's and 90's, where I visited over 90 countries when I was a lot younger, these days I do not enjoy traveling any more (mainly due to airport security delays) so I am pretty much retired in Florida for the last 7 years and no longer travel any more. The last time I went overseas was in 2011 to Thailand, and since then I have not traveled outside the USA. If I could borrow Doctor Who's TARDIS I would gladly transport myself anywhere in the world, instantly - but I am done with traveling in airplanes and dealing with long lines and airport security any more. I just stay at home and try to hire cameramen to upload stuff to my server, which is what I have been doing for the last 7 years.

Wetlook is a totally non-discriminatory subject matter. I do not favor Mosocw over any other city or country. It is simply a matter of whomever responds to my calls for cameraman to come forward and contact me if they wish to contribute public wetlook events and upload them to my server. I have placed numerous notices on my websites as well as on this forum, offering to buy cameras and financing thei labor rates of cameramen who live in cities where there are wetlook events.....and so far the only people wo contacted me in the last 7 years came from Moscow and Kiev. I lost my Kiev contacts after Russia invaded the Ukraine and 3 of my former Moscow cameramen have since relocated and cannot provide media so now I am down to 1 camera person only in Moscow (SG) and he is retiring soon and moving away from the area so I hope I can find a replacement otherwise the Moscow series will come to an end. I would love to find wetlook fans in other places like South America, Paris or even Sri Lanka.....but it is not feasible for me to travel to those places so we need to find people who live where the action is taking place....e.g. I would love to find several wetlook camera living in various cities in Portugal to film those "Queima das fitas" events....but so far we cannot find any wetlook fans living there that seems interested in wetlook. I would also like to find cameraman in Panama and Ecuador to film the "culecos" water splashing days there, There are also new wetlook events in South Korea (the Sinchon water festival) and a water splashing festival in Taiwan, as well as Songkran events in Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. I could go on and on and list over 50 major wetlook events and festivals around the world. Many of them are just not feasible to send people to film them.....i.e. the Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day charity swims in the UK are as useless as the Polar Bear swims held thru the USA in the next 3 months.....i.e. the cameraman freezes his butt off and people rush in and out of the water in less than 30 seconds. Life is to short to be wasting our time on events that last only a few seconds....so I skip those and focus on events that last for at least 4-5 days.

For those who have siuggestions for new cities and countries to cover.....remember.....suggesting places to visit is very easy to do....but the hard part is...finding a cameraman who is RELIABLE in those places. I have been burned 3 times already by scammers from Moscow who contacted me to ask for money to buy a camera....and after I wired them the money they wanted for a camera and x number of hours of footage delivered, they simply took the money and I never heard from them again. I have been scammed too many times already, so now when people contact me I will only deal with them on a C.O.D. basis....and they have to deliver some footage before I will reimburse them for the camera equipment and hours of footage.

So.....I will hire any cameraman in any country or city if they can produce the footage, but it is no longer feasible for me to travel overseas myself.....i.e. how can anybody capture the "wet monday" events in Hiungary or Poland....when they are not centralized events that happen in one place....and those events happen all over the place....only the Youtubers can cover those events.

Anyway.....if you wish to help then I need people to volunteer to join our camera team from the places you suggest....so ....find me those people...and I will see what I can do.

As this conversation progresses, guys keep talking about all this wetlook they are finding from all different places.

FAO MK and other fans/producers of Russian candids - the alternatives

Maybe trying other places than Moscow would be a good idea. Both in material quality and maybe safety. Most Russian material (yours and others) seems to be focused on Moscow and to a lesser extent Saint Pete. But there are many large Russian towns which must have fountains and might have even nicer dressed girls (as the change from dresses with pantyhose to jeans and shorts usually comes from the capital). Some places must be big enough to support photographers and with fewer of them it may actually be easier to shoot there (less troubles with the police at least). The big southern cities (better climate) might be a good place to start, like Volgograd, Rostov on Don or Krasnodar.

And apart from Russia, there is Belarus. And Minsk. Belarus tends to scare people, more than Russia and Ukraine, but Minsk is a really safe city and the country is not as closed as some want to think. I mean they have McDonald's, Burger King and KFC :D. The thing is that Minsk fell of the radar, but a few years back (say 2006-11) there were some guys, posting photos from Minsk. Many of those photos are still in my top archive (I like dresses and pantyhose, but candid). It seems that in those days Minsk fountains were better than Moscow ones sometimes, maybe it's worth having someone there?

This posed was provoked by MK'S stories on what shooting in Moscow means and on the shocking video from Croatia. Some of my Eastern European (both EU and non-EU) ideas of where to shoot as an alternative if things in Moscow get too rough. Might be useful for MK, for someone else of for wetlook seeking tourists. A long read, but I think it has some cool recommendations based on the amount of wetlook experienced first hand.

As for other Eastern European locations, there are quite a few worth considering. Of course places in the Ukraine, with Kiev/Kyiv and Odessa the most prominent, but, I also think some others have potential. The Estonian resort town of Parnu seems to provide quite a lot of wetlook on local sites (well, or it did, now everyone switched to Facebook and it's friends only, not as easy to find as in the glory days of fotoalbum.ee). Also, while the style of dress has gone Western and less elegant in Poland, the countries Gdynia is a good place for wetlook. It is unique for having a beach right in the center of the quite large city, so it gets lots of wetlook. Also in Poland, there is the less than 100 thousand people town of Inowroclaw... which shows how one persons idea can create something wonderfull. Just google "Inowroclaw" and "Spacer przez fontanne". This seems to be some charity/flash mob style event happening on the day last day of school, which seems to attract a lot of girls in formal wear, dresses, pantyhose etc. It might give some profit to send a photographer there for one day, though judging by the numerous photos and youtube videos the search provides, the girls seem rather youngish, more 16-18 than 18-20. But it's an event filmed and photographed by so many local journalists that it's totally safe.

Also, further south, I'd think Constanta, Romania is a good place for wetlook, especially of course the resort district of Mamaia. For some reason this never got popular with "old Germans" as Bulgaria's resorts did, and stays young, hip and local. Seen a lot of wetlook there on both the beach and in a small but strategically placed fountain. As for EU Eastern European capitals and cities, I'd say they are a miss, as the wetlook is not really common and of Western European style though when I use Slavic key words on Instagram etc, Poland brings the most results with somewhat obscure fountains but easily accessible and in front of shopping malls or landmarks. Namely the fountains in front of "Arkadia" (a big shopping mall in Warsaw), In front of "Manufaktura" (a big shopping mall in Lodz) and in front of Hala Stulecia "Centennial Hall" (a concert venue and landmark of sorts in Wroclaw, with a very large and easily accessible fountain) seem to crop up quite often in the summer. I guess girls love malls and concerts and love fountains when it gets hot. Though I guess all these places hire security which could get nasty if someone complained of a guy taking candid camera pictures. And as Poland copies German/French strict privacy laws, this could get ugly if the police gets involved (which unlike police further to the East, doesn't really like taking or being offered bribes anymore :/)

Anyway, just wanted to give you some ideas and alternatives if police bribes or camera replacement prices get to high in Moscow.
