The west end of Lake Ontario rose a couple of feet . Nowhere near what I expceted might happen, nor nowhere near what happened in Buffaly NY couple of years ago. The east end of the lake dropped by 3-4 feet. The wind blew it all to the west end after couple of intense days. Boaters found their boats hanging high and dry to the docks. It was wierd to see. You are right, however, No tides = no major surge... |
In reply to Message (5986) Storm surge in Toronto???
By Sopping - Sat 20/09/03 22:51:10 GMT I knew when we mid-Atlantic folks had finished with T/S former hurricaine "Isabel" that we shipped it north of the border. But to get a storm surge you need certain ocean phenomenona. Did the wind blow the Lake into town?
Just curious, and see my wetlook-oriented post on this topic, less I be acused of off-topic postings.
