This Sunday, March 2, and Tuesday, March 4, CBS plans to air a 2 part TV movie on the Salem witch trials. As history buffs know, one method of dealing with accused witches was to tie them to a stool and dunk them in a lake or river until they confessed - or drowned. Another method was to tie them to a heavy rock and throw them in. If they drowned, that was their divine punishment for being a witch. If they didn't drown, well, only a witch could survive such a thing, so then they were hanged. Nice guys.

It's not supposed to be a very good movie, and I'm not optimistic that there will be any dunking scenes, but anybody wanting to cover all the bases might want to keep one eye on it.
