Even though my galleries do not contain any original work (it's all collections and contributions), it still hurts to receive criticisms because I worked hard to put my site together and my galleries reflect my personal tastes. So, I can understand how people who either invest their creative efforts in taking pictures or models who allow themselves to be seen (and judged) by web surfers everywhere can be hurt by harsh criticism - to the point of withdrawing from any further scrutiny. I have to remind myself (and any other producers/webmasters should likewise remind themselves) of the following:

There will always be trolls who will shoot their mouths off. I think most of the popular sites and models have drawn verbal attacks at some point, so you're not being singled out. If you react, they win... they have demonstrated their control over you. You just have know that you can't please everyone; have faith in yourself and know that there are people who appreciate what you do; focus on them and ignore the personal attacks.
