Not having the sort of access to pool parties and foam parties that you do in Germany, it's hard to say what I'd really do if I did, but...
I'm not sure I can understand the videographer-voyeur. I mean, if I was there, I think I'd be more interested in participating as fully as possible in the event than carting in a whole lot of gear and recording it - whether for personal use, free sharing, or sale. On the other hand, as I don't have direct access, I am grateful to those who do, because I wouldn't be able to enjoy them (even if vicariously) otherwise. I suppose I might be able to relate to the guys who just stand and stare; I think it may just be shyness.
Some interesting points here... certainly made me think.

In reply to Message (9301) filming at pool parties
By Bob - Mon 22/03/04 23:04:05 GMT I just want to reply to the Mark’s post a while back. Well, I guess, it’s not that easy. There are a couple of problems to consider. Candid pictures and videos are very much in demand. Maybe it’s just because they are authentic and not posed and so unnatural. Germany, Swizerland and Austria seem to be good places to capture candid wetlook scenes, because pool- and foamparties are very popular here. I know a lot of guys who travel around all of Germany – each week-end – in order to take part on any wet party available. Some of those guys go hunderets of kilometers a night. Of course there’s a lot of guys who carry their camera gear with them. Most of them seem to keep their material for their own. I used to be one of them. I took a lot of pictures and made videos. We had a lot of discusions about the Candid Filming- deal on the german wetlook forum. The problem is, that there are already enough guys, who behave quite conspicuous, as they don’t dance, don’t talk, don’t chat – they just hide behind a corner, and stare at girls and boys. In addition to this there are a lot of “paparazzi”, who run after girls and sometimes they molest them. There are some wetlook-filmers and photographers who behave descent – so I don’t want to put them all into a bad light. Anyway, photographers and filmers are not very welcome at pool parties – especially when they appear in crowds. In the german wetlook scene they are just called “Peeping Toms”. I gave up the candid thing, because I have got a lot of friends in the scene and I want to keep them. I didn’t want to lose my credit, you know. And if you go to a pool party – how do you explain your girlfriend, what you are doing with your camera gear? So it’s not that easy. In my special case, I asked myself, if I can go on offending women’s dignity, as I captured them on film and made them objects of other men’s desire without their agreement.
