that website should tell you how/why you get the "save as" to .bmp format instead of the standard .jpg |
In reply to Message (8811) Off Topic - browser problems, suggested "fix"
By Graham (Styx) - graham@styxwetworld.com Sun 22/02/04 22:43:25 GMT Like many people who post here, I've seen my fair share of browser problems using IE. Windows hanging (even Windows 2000), cache problems, BMP file downloads, MS error reports when things fail -- and so on. I tried other browsers - Netscape, Opera and so on as I try to test all websites I develop in major browsers.
I finally got fed up with it (IE) and installed Mozilla Firefox as it was being spoken about on other forums I visit. Within a day, I was really satisfied and made it my default browser. With a few exceptions, web pages look identical. (A notable exception is the "add page" for this forum, sadly, but I wrote to Nigel offering help).
The great thing is ... no failures (browser or Windows) since install, all web pages I've tried work fine, no error reports, and pages seem to load twice as fast. There's some great, useful functions in it. And it automatically blocks popups too.
If anyone cares to try it, visit http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
