By AnthonyX - anthonyx@jowc.net Thu 11/09/03 00:08:30 GMT I have to wonder if your webmaster should really have had to pay that bill, if it was due to hacking/virus.
If you are paying for hosting (you just upload you site to their server), the hosting company is in control of security, not the client, so the client cannot reasonably be held accountable for the consequences of the provider's security shortcomings. In these kind of situations, it is unusual for providers to allow clients to upload components (possible entry point for viruses), so I think it is rather unfair to put the client on the financial hook like that.
It would, however, be understandable if it was your own server (security is then your own responsibility) and any excess bandwidth incurred because you allowed your own server to be hacked really is your problem.
Sorry to hear of your difficulties, great to see that you've returned despite the problems, and just hope that you can find a legal out to the big bill.

By webmaster SVW - kennydrye@ntlworld.com Wed 10/09/03 17:34:28 GMT Website: www.stickyvickyworld.com Hi, thanks for your email, all advice and opinions can only help, so thank you. As to the virus, Whilst vicky and i were away, the website was the subject of some major 'hacking' activity that lead to it being seriously infected with various viruses. This lead to the Internet Service Provider contacting our old webmaster and as a result we had to close the site down ASAP.
The Internet Service Providor has been unable to trace the root of the hacking, but needless to stay that when a website becomes seriously infected with multiple viruses, it has to be closed as the ISP is under a legal obligation to only host virus free sites!! What this all meant, was that we had to start out all over again with a brand site. To add insult to injury then he got a bill from the hosting company ValueWeb, for over $4000 so OUCH!!! So far the source of the malicious attacks had not been traced, but was something to do with the SOBIG virus, which attacked many hasting companies, not just ValueWeb. It seems that he idea behind the virus was to bring the whole Internet down, somethin which was repoted in the papers, when the virus actually hit!!
anyway i don't understand some peoples mentality, all we want to do is provide great images, still and moving so thanks again for your comments

By Vixenwitch - Wed 10/09/03 12:22:39 GMT Hi!
First off, thanks for the free preview.
Not really my taste I'm afraid, and I agree with the other poster who said you need to use more variety of camera angles, etc. The navigation is also very un-intuitive, though once you've got the hang of it it's OK.
Btw, what you said about viruses etc makes no sense at all - there is nothing any virus can do to "harm" a domain name, and if someone told you this has happened and made you buy a different domain, they were lying.
Hope this doesn't come over as too negative, just trying to offer some genuine feedback. Hope it all works out for you and your members, anyway.
Cheers!

By webmaster SVW - kennydrye@ntlworld.com Wed 10/09/03 07:04:49 GMT Website: www.stickyvickyworld.com Hi everybody,
I just wanted to introduce my new site. As you may or may not know www.Stickyvicky.biz has been abruptly withdrawn from cyberspace. This was due to a virus attack on the sites IP address causing irretrievable damage to the site and its domain name; this was my home coming after my first holiday in 3 years! All though this has been an almighty blow it has happened at the most appropriate time anything like this could do. My original webmaster Gavin has plans to leave the shoal and I have found a superb webmaster to continue and build on his great work. Gavin although not officially involved will remain in contact to lend advice on one of his favourite subjects, I’d just like to take this opportunity to write a BIG THANK YOU to Gavin and my members.
But you can’t keep a good girl and her site down and to prove just that my webmaster and team have worked 24/7 to produce the aptly named www.Stickyvickyworld.com. The new site gives us chance to show off the photography talents of new webmaster “Kendo” when given a camera, model and a ticket to Spain, as well as the entire archives from Stickyvicky.biz. Future sets will all be the same high res. Quality images seen on this e-mail and are to include a long awaited return from Louise, paddling pools, jelly wrestling, soap and water by the bucket full and what ever else feasible as requested by you the members.
By way of apology to what were my existing members I’d like to offer a 2 weeks of free membership on my new site.
username: guest password: temp
I look forward to hearing from you all, please feel free to pass on this promotional password and username to other interested parties and forums, I would also like to hear from you with your views and thoughts on the new site and how we can improve it.

PS another twenty galleries will be uploaded in the next two weeks
Tatar for now,
Vicky x
